Poland – Italy

It’s time for some great Nations League action again because on Sunday Poland will face Italy in a match from League A’s Group 1. This game is going to be played at the Stadion Energa Gdansk in the city of Gdansk. Let’s take a look.

Poland have one win and one loss from their first two matches in the group. They kicked off their campaign with a loss in Netherlands, but in their second game Jerzy Brzeczek’s boys secured a 2-1 win during the visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina.

On Wednesday Poland prepared pretty well for this game. They hosted Finland in a friendly match in Gdansk and crushed their opponents with a 5-1 win. West Bromwich Albion’s winger Kamil Grosicki shined with a hattrick for Poland while Piatek and Milik also scored for the hosts. The Polish team did the job even without their great star Robert Lewandowski who didn’t play.

Poland are a team with a big potential at the moment. We are keeping an eye on their progress.

Italy are currently leading Group 1 with 4 points from the first two matches. Roberto Mancini’s team started with a surprising draw against Bosnia-Herzegovina, but in their second game they won against Netherlands for a first win. This group is really interesting right now because there are three teams separated by just one point.

During the week Italy showed how good their guns are with a thrilling 6-0 win against Moldova in a friendly game. Stephan El Shaarawy scored twice for the Azzurri, while Cristante, Caputo and Berardi also scored for Mancini’s team. Moldova’s Posmac scored himself an own goal.

Poland are just one point behind Italy in this group, so for them there’s a huge motivation to claim the win in Gdansk. But this is Italy after all, so the Polish team is going to need a really sharp performance to do the job.
