Poland – Slovakia
Poland meets Slovakia at the Saint-Petersburg Stadium in a game from Group E of the Euro 2020. Let’s preview this fixture for you in the next few paragraphs. Should we begin?
Poland impressed everyone during the qualifying phase of the European Championship. They didn’t face much problems to reach the competition, so they approach this first game in the group stage as favorites. They have some impressive players and they usually show some great fighting spirit on the pitch.
Poland’s captain Robert Lewandowski is the player to watch in this team. He’s most probably the best striker in the world right now and his last two seasons with Bayern Munich are the proof for this. In the previous campaign Lewandowski had more goals than matches for the Bavarians and he’s one of the favorites to win the next Ballon d’Or.
Napoli’s creative midfielder Piotr Zielinski is one of the players who must help Lewandowski score goals for Poland. The 27-years old is a consistent performer for the Serie A side and the fans expect a lot from him.
Slovakia are one of the underdogs at the Euro, but it doesn’t mean they don’t have chances to do something significant. Don’t forget that they reached the 1/8-finals in France five years ago.
Inter Milan’s center-back Milan Skriniar and Parma’s holding midfielder Juraj Kucka are two of the biggest leaders in the Falcons’ squad. Skriniar is one of the most consistent defenders in the Serie A while Kucka is a midfielder with tons of experience at the highest level. Their performance will be very important for Slovakia during the competition.
That’s the preview for the Euro 2020 game between Poland and Slovakia June 14 in Saint-Petersburg. Can the Polish team prove why they are favorites according to the pundits? Surely they have the tools to hurt their opponent here.
